Icelandair adds Glasgow frequency

From March 19, the carrier will add an extra frequency, taking the route from what is currently a five-times weekly operation to a six-times weekly service. The additional outbound/return flights will depart on Saturdays and will be operated by a B757-200 aircraft. Outbound service FI430 will depart Reykjavik at 0735 and arrive in Glasgow at 0940. Return leg FI431 will leave Glasgow at 1405 and land in Reykjavik at 1525. British Airways to fly B787-8 to Newark

The carrier will add the Dreamliner on to daily flights BA188/189 from the start of the winter season on October 25 until December 4. The route is currently operated by a B777. A spokesman for BA told Business Traveller that the temporary switch is being made "for scheduling reasons". Outbound service BA189 departs LHR at 1510 and arrives at Newark at 1825, while return service BA188 leaves Newark at 2125 and lands in London at 0905 the next day. IHG Rewards Club adds ‘Accelerate’ promo

Members must register for the "Accelerate" promo, which runs from September 1 until December 31, here. They will then be directed to a dashboard with several offers "based on their current IHG Rewards Club status and booking history". IHG said in a statement: "Each offer has a number of bonus points associated with it, ranging from 500 to more than 20,000 and achieving a certain number of these offers generates additional bonus points. KLM orders six B787-10s

The Dutch carrier, which is scheduled to take delivery of its first B787-9 later this year, said it expects to receive the B787-10s by 2020. B787-9 World Business Class seats Last month, the airline announced it will install its new World Business Class seats on its B787-9 (see news, July 27). The seats will be fully-flat, have direct aisle access and feature 16-inch in-flight entertainment screens. Business class will be configured 1-2-1 while economy will have a 3-3-3 configuration with seats that recline 40 per cent more than currently. British Airways denies data breach

A report in The Times of India says that Delhi police have detained a hacker “… and are conducting further raids in connection with alleged hacking into the British Airways' systems wherein crooks siphoned off millions of 'mileage points' worth several millions pounds belonging to its flyers.” The report goes on to say that the inquiry apparently came to light after British Airways Executive Club members complained to the airline after discovering that their miles (Avios) had disappeared from accounts. Marriott to open Courtyard Belgrade City Centre

The 114-room Courtyard Belgrade City Centre will be located in the city’s Republic Square, close to the shopping and restaurant district of Knez Mihailova, and the capital’s Bohemian Quarter. Rooms will feature free wifi and 42-inch Smart LED TVs, and other hotel facilities will include a meeting room, 24-hour market shop, a fitness centre and all-day dining restaurant. BA B787-9 to offer wider economy seat

The revelation has been published in the carrier’s Up To Speed staff magazine, but has not yet been officially announced by BA. In the publication’s August edition, Kathryn Doyle, product development cabin interiors said that “Front-line colleagues shared feedback from customers on the B787-8, who said the seats felt a bit tight”. “We listened to that and challenged our seat supplier to come up with a solution that would achieve parity with competitors and satisfy customers. The new e-visa, which came into force earlier this week (for story, click here), sees travellers avoiding the need to make an appointment at the Indian embassy, paying a reduced fee for a tourist visa from £89.44 to £39, and then submitting "biometric data", where fingerprint data and facial imagery is collected at one of 16 designated entry points (airports such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai).
