Virgin Australia launches new business class seat

The new seat features a length of 80 inches and width of 28 inches when in the bed position, which the airline says makes it “the world’s longest and widest fully lie-flat bed in domestic business class”. The new product will be rolled out across Virgin Australia’s A330 fleet by the end of October, before being extended to B777 aircraft serving Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi. Motel One arrives in Amsterdam

The 320-room Motel One Amsterdam is located opposite Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Conference Centre. Facilities include a lounge, bar, free wifi and iPads in reception. A statement said the lounge "features two impressive art installations that have been built out of old bicycle components. This theme continues up to the first floor, with a wall of bike carriers that invites guests to leave greetings and notes on small cards." Hilton London Euston to be refurbished

The work will also see "a number of new bedrooms" added and a new fitness centre. The first revamped guest rooms in the Bloomsbury property will be available from next month. The hotel will remain open during the refurbishment and the work is expected to complete in the second quarter of 2016. Starwood to open four new Dubai hotels

Three of the properties will fall under the group's Aloft brand, while the fourth will be an Element hotel. All four are scheduled to open in 2018. Aloft Dubai Dubiotech will contain 227 guestrooms and will be located 20 kilometres from Dubai International airport and 40 kilometres from the new Dubai World Central International airport. The 200-room Aloft Dubai Studio City will feature 120 sqm meeting space and will be located 15 minutes from Dubai International and the city centre. United adds maps function to app

The carrier said the new maps enable passengers to search "quickly" for nearby shops, restaurants, cash machines, toilets and other services. Walking times are estimated and passengers can place a pin at their exact location at any moment. If passengers have a boarding pass stored in the app, then the technology will automatically default to start navigation at the specific gate. LOT Polish and Turkish extend strategic partnership

The Star Alliance carriers first signed a codeshare deal covering flights between Warsaw and Istanbul in 2000. This was extended last year to include Istanbul routes to/from Amman, Cairo and Anakara; and to include Warsaw routes to/from Vienna and Krakow. Qantas to restart Perth-Singapore service

The Australian airline will operate a B737 five-times weekly - on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays - between the two cities from June 26. Outbound service QF71 will depart Perth at 1200 and arrive in Singapore at 1720, with return service QF72 leaving Singapore at 1825 and landing in Perth at 2340. ANA adds Star Wars livery to B787-9

The Japanese carrier unveiled a B787-9 Dreamliner painted to look like the sci-fi franchise's iconic robot character R2-D2 at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California, yesterday. "Star Wars" is also written on each side of the fuselage. The design will appear on international flights in the autumn, ANA said.
