Air France debuts new medium-haul cabin

The national carrier flew the A319 aircraft from Airbus' headquarters in Toulouse to Paris Charles de Gaulle. The redesigned seat, which is upholstered in leather, is being fitted in all cabin classes on the airline's medium-haul fleet based at Paris CDG. Flybe suspends Southend-Dublin route

The regional carrier will no longer operate the service, which currently flies three-times weekly, down from daily previously, from April 13. Paul Simmons, Flybe CCO, said: "As part of a recent review, we have taken the decision to suspend this route with effect from April 13 as passenger numbers regretfully continue to remain below those projected. "Passengers who have booked to fly on this route are being contacted and offered an alternative flight or a full refund. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers." Emirates opens Los Angeles lounge

The $6.2 million facility, which is the Gulf airline's 37th lounge worldwide, is available to first and business class passengers and to Platinum and Gold members of Emirates Skywards. Located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, the new Emirates Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport is 840 sqm in size and seats up to 157 people. Features include free wifi, a terrace view, leather armchairs, a "choice of formal and relaxed seating", a dining area, showers, a prayer room and a fully-equipped business centre. Ryanair dismisses transatlantic talk

Earlier this week, it was claimed the Irish carrier will offer services to the US for as little as €10 in the next four to five years. But the airline said in a statement: "In the light of recent press coverage, the board of Ryanair Holdings wishes to clarify that it has not considered or approved any transatlantic project and does not intend to do so." Cathay Pacific cancels Moscow service

The airline will no longer fly Hong Kong to the Russian capital from June 1, it was announced today. "Alternative arrangements will be made" for passengers already booked on flights after that date. Last month, both Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways cut services to Moscow (see news, February 24 and February 24). Cathay blamed the decision on high operating costs and declining passenger numbers. A statement said: "The airline will maintain a presence in Moscow to coordinate sales activities for flights through its other gateways in western Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
