Business travellers ‘not getting best hotel deals’

The hotel booking specialist has released a white paper, called Lowering the BAR, which includes advice on how travel buyers can secure the most appropriate deals with hotels, using both dynamic or "spot" prices, as well as traditional negotiated rates. Jon West, HRS UK managing director, said the research "reiterated" how the crucial factor for buyers was not to find the cheapest room rate, but to identify the best hotel with the "lowest acceptable" price which also met the key criteria of corporate travel policy. Anantara expands in Dubai

The 290-room Anantara Dubai Creek Hotel will be located in Culture Village, which is currently being developed in the east of the city and faces Dubai Creek. The property will have a range of restaurants, bars and retail outlets, a rooftop pool and a spa. It also boasts waterfront views from its ballroom and conference facilities. MHG is developing the hotel in conjunction with partner Dubai Properties. The Anantara brand is experiencing a rapid expansion of both leisure and business hotels. Cathay serves Illy to premium passengers

The airline has already started serving the Italian coffee on its flights. From next month, it will also have Illy espresso, café latte and cappuccino on-board. The carrier said it has worked with Illy to develop "unique coffee filter 'pillows' specifically for inflight use". A statement added: "The Cathay Pacific catering team has worked closely with Illy to choose the most appropriate level of roasting for the company's quality coffee beans." AC Hotels By Marriott to open in Washington, DC

The 192-room AC Hotel Washington, DC will be located by the capital's National Harbor. The eight-storey building will feature 344 sqm of meeting space, complimentary wifi, a restaurant and a bar. BA adds tiers to On Business

News »  Published: 20/02/2015 - Filed under: News » Loyalty » British Airways On Business is introducing a tier system and moving to a revenue-based model to provide members with "greater flexibility and choice", it was announced today. From May 27, the airline's loyalty programme for small companies will reward those spending more on tickets, rather than distance flown. Last month, BA announced similar changes to its Executive Club programme; these come into effect on April 28 (see news, January 28). On Business members will be able to collect and redeem points on BA, American Airlines and Iberia networks, as well as their eligible partners.
