Room Mate launches Bemate.com apartment rental

The new brand aims to provide private apartments with hotel services, such as a 24-hour concierge and a convenient location to leave luggage and pick up and deposit room keys. Bemate.com also offers amenities that can be booked á la carte, from airport transfers to cleaners and cooks. Since its creation in September, Bemate has acquired 2,500 apartments in ten cities including New York, Madrid, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Mexico City. It is currently increasing its portfolio to include Paris, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Lisbon and Seville. American adds second daily Heathrow-LAX service

The US carrier will begin operating the new flight with a three-class B777-300ER, with 60 fully-flat seats in first and business class, on March 29. To view a seatplan, click here. From that date, outbound services will depart LHR at 1215 and 1400 and arrive at LAX at 1540 and 1730 local time respectively. The return services will take-off from LAX at 1755 and 1935 and land in London at 1225 and 1415 local time the following day. Free wifi for all Marriott Rewards members

From January 15, complimentary wireless internet access will be available to all Marriott Rewards members across more than 3,800 hotels. Platinum and Gold Elite members will continue to receive free enhanced wifi, allowing them to download large files faster and stream media. Air Berlin marks Fall of the Wall with special flights

The flights will follow the 15km ‘illuminated border’ made up of 8,000 luminous balloons that trace a section of the former course of the wall. A 76-seat propeller aircraft will follow the route, flying at a height of 1,000 metres. The light installation will stretch from Bornholmer Strasse to the Oberbaum Bridge and a guide will accompany the flights and narrate the history of the divided city. Etihad raises frequency to Dallas before route launch

The carrier will launch the route on December 3 with an initial three flights a week using a Boeing 777LR. Etihad says good forward sales have prompted it to increase frequency to daily from April 16 next year. Dallas/Fort Worth is the airline’s sixth US route alongside New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, which launches on November 18 this year. The Boeing 777-200LR aircraft will offer eight seats in First Class, 40 in Business Class and 177 in economy. Gatwick loses Jeddah, Riyadh routes, but may gain Tehran

Saudi carrier Flynas quits flying from London to Jeddah and Riyadh tomorrow (October 25). The airline, which operated a hybrid business model, has failed to bring its formula to the UK, having also abandoned a Manchester-Jeddah service in August. This route lasted only four months. Flynas leased wide body Airbus A330s for long-haul expansion but has now reined back its ambitions and is also axing services to Jakarta and its Pakistan destinations. Carlisle airport to be developed with US link

The haulage and air travel company is planning flights from the former RAF base to Dublin from next summer using its Stobart Air fleet (previously known as Aer Arann), which flies under the Aer Lingus Regional name.
