Ryanair will open a base at Berlin Schonefeld airport on October 27.
The budget carrier said it will launch 16 new routes from the German capital this winter, making a total of 22 routes and 191 weekly flights.
The new destinations will be Alicante, Athens, Barcelona, Bari, Bologna, Bratislava, Brussels, Glasgow, Madrid, Malaga, Palermo, Palma, Riga, Rome Ciampino, Venice and Valencia.
The airline will also operate extra flights to London Stansted (a total of four daily), Dublin (nine weekly), and Milan (twice daily).
Kenny Jacob, Ryanair's chief marketing officer, said: "Ryanair is pleased to announce a new Berlin base from October, our 73rd in total, with five based aircraft, an investment of $500 million, with 16 new routes and 22 routes in total as part of our Berlin winter 2015 schedule, which will deliver 2.6 million annual customers and support 2,600 local jobs."
Last month, Ryanair vowed to fight the UK Court of Appeal's decision to uphold an earlier ruling that it must cut its stake in rival Irish airline Aer Lingus to just 5 per cent (see news, February 13).
