Thai Airways took delivery of its first A380 in September 2013.

The carrier now has six superjumbos in its fleet and recently announced it will fly the Airbus aircraft between Bangkok and London Heathrow from July 1 (see news, February 5).

Thai's inaugural A380 entered service between Bangkok and Hong Kong in October 2013. The airline currently flies the A380 to Hong Kong, Osaka, Tokyo Narita, Frankfurt and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

In summer 2013, the carrier postponed its A380 service to London by 11 months until October 2014, citing "important technical modifications" (see news, July 2). As mentioned above, this will now take place in July.

Thai's superjumbos have 507 seats and are configured with 12 seats in Royal First Class, 60 in Royal Silk business class and 435 in economy.

First and business are on the upper deck, as are 58 economy seats. The remaining 377 economy seats take up the aircraft's main deck.
