What Do You Think Of JetBlue’s New Premium Class?

At a preview of the cabins at JFK airport earlier this week, the airline served guests a three-course brunch: A tiny brioche topped with goat cheese was followed by a choice of five entrees (guests get to pick three). Standouts were a watermelon, feta and basil salad; scrambled eggs with slab bacon and ratatouille; and a cheese & chive biscuit sandwich. Dessert was a fruit salad and lemon honey sorbet from Brooklyn’s Blue Marble Ice Cream.

But the real show stopper is the new seats: The “Mint” cabins feature 16 seats, with 12 configured in the standard domestic business class 2-2 layout, alternating with two rows of 1-1 seating. Those separate single pods each have a door panel offering added privacy. With 15-inch flat screens, nooks for everything from your laptop to your shoes, and Birchbox-designed amenity kits, JetBlue is getting close to international business class territory.

And coach class hasn’t been neglected either: At the back of the same plane are new ‘core’ leather seats with 10-inch screens, 100 channels of TV programming, and a self-serve snack and beverage center separating the two classes—a refreshing change from the old curtain divider that screamed “keep out.”
